Free clinic, patients must have a wristband

A massive free health clinic will return to the Los Angeles Sports Arena this week, offering medical, dental and vision services to residents from throughout Southern California.

The event, hosted by the Los Angeles-based nonprofit Care Harbor, will take place from Thursday to Sunday, Sept. 30. The clinic will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

To attend the free clinic, patients must have a wristband. Care Harbor will hand out wristbands on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Sports Arena on Monday starting at 1 p.m. The parking lot opens at 7 a.m.

Participants can choose which day they want to attend. The wristbands are not transferable. If the patient is a child, the wristband will be given to the parent, who must bring the child to the clinic.

In years past, the event has drawn thousands of uninsured and underinsured residents looking to get their teeth pulled, eyes examined and blood pressure checked. The clinic also connects patients with follow-up care in the community.

The organization is looking for volunteers, both general and medical, to participate in the clinic.
