Wristbands for Swampmaster Alligator Shows

The Lancaster County Super Fair gets underway Thursday at the Lancaster Event Center. The fair runs through Aug. 10.

Carnival wristbands for unlimited rides are available for $20 in advance and $25 at the fair.
Buy your wristbands at the Lancaster Event Center Office, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Wristbands are good for a single session at the fair. Sessions run from 1 to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 11 p.m.


Free Super Fair gate admission tickets are available at all Russ’s Market, Super Saver and Casey’s General Store locations in Lincoln. Admission at the gate is $2 per person. Parking is $3 per vehicle.
This year’s attractions include the Swampmaster Gator Show, Scott’s Crazy Comedy Magic Show, Daryl's Racing Pigs, A to Z Exotic Animal Petting Zoo and Pony Rides, Heart of America Shows Midway Carnival and the Procrastinators, a group of drummers who turn five-gallon water bottles, barstools and pots and pans into musical instruments while jumping, sliding, twisting and stomping their way through fast and furious rhythmic fun.

Also coming up:

* Marcus Theatre’s Kid’s Dream summer film series continues with “The Croods,” at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at SouthPointe and Grand cinemas. Tickets are $2.50 each.
* Cooper YMCA will host a Family Luau at the outdoor pool from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Activities include limbo contest, pineapple bowling, musical beach towels, hula hoop contests, prizes giveaways, raft races and free snow cones. Families can enjoy dinner for $3 per person. Cost is $20 per family ($10 for members) or $8 per person ($4 per person for members). All children under  9 must be accompanied by an adult at least 16 years old.
Space is limited. Advance registration is required. Sign up by visiting the front desk at any Lincoln YMCA. The luau is a fundraiser for the Y Strong Kids Campaign, which provides programs for low-income families at reduced rates.
* Wild Wednesdays continue through August at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo, 1222 S. 27th St. Wild Wednesdays run from 5 to 8 p.m. with special activities and animal demonstrations. Regular admission applies.

Friday

Saturday

Hickman Hay Day Celebration -- begins at 7:30 a.m. with pancake feed, Hickman. Highlights: 9 a.m. cat/dog show; 11 a.m. Main Street Parade; 12:30 p.m. Rubber Duck Race and children's games and bounce houses.

Haymarket Farmers Market -- 8 a.m.-noon, through Oct. 12, Seventh and P streets.

Kids in Parks Nature Detective Program -- "Insect Investigators," 10 a.m. to noon, Homestead National Monument of America, Beatrice. For all ages. Free.

Bilingual storytime (Spanish and English) -- 10 a.m., Indigo Bridge Books, 701 P St. Free.
