Walk To School Month Wristbands

A housebuilding company has donated high-visibility wristbands to schoolchildren in Mill Hill to help keep them safe on their walk to school.

Taylor Wimpey made the donation to Courtland School as part of Walk to School Month which encourages children and parents to make walking to school part of their daily routine, encouraging a healthy lifestyle and cutting car journeys.

Christine Scarborough, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey, said: “Nowadays there is a real concern about the amount of time children spend outside being active and walking to school is an ideal way to help them get more exercise – but it’s important that they can be seen clearly by motorists.

“We hope our high-visibility slap bands will help keep the children safe during the darker winter months and encourage them to walk to school more regularly. More children walking will also help minimise the number of cars on the road at the beginning and end of the school day.”

Fashion wristbands - New Fundraiser LOST Supporters Adopt a Pelican

We have been very excited to announce a fresh fundraising effort we have been carefully pondering for quite a while now.

We recently had 8 of particular edition black-on-white fashion wristbands composed. We thought it will be cool, as your creators, to have our own one-of-a-kind style. But we then began to think of how we may also use these towards your fundraising efforts many of us were already taking care of. We are extremely pleased to announce that from the end of our own wristband sale, we can have raised $1, 130 intended for Children’s Defense Account! We wanted methods to do more, for another cause that basically needs it. Three days after we placed our primary wristband order, your Gulf Oil Pour happened. 45 days later…it continues to happen. By today, we’re sure a great deal of you have seen these pictures, that emerged today, from the wildlife affected from the Gulf Oil Pour. After we saw them, it seemed meant to be that our donations because of this event should get towards this cause.

The Goal: You should raise $200 total to look at an endangered brown pelican from the name of LOST Fans that are concerned about your oil spill. It’s a tiny effort, but something we can easily all afford and stay proud to take part in. We will take up the Pelican over the IBRRC (International Bird Rescue Research Center), which calculates $200 since the cost to maintain one pelican. They've already recently set up shop that has a rescue team inside affected areas to help get these pets cleaned and released. After adoption, we receive a number which can identify our pelican forever, and a document signifying the adopter. We intend to honor “LOST Fans” since the adopter of your pelican.

The Strategy: We are going to create a donation widget on our website and Facebook. Donate as little or around you world like! Every little will count. We’re likely to accept donations during June. Any amount increased over $200 will also demand IBRRC.

The Benefit: Here’s where it gets more fun! Rather than have a bidding competition (which had been our original strategy for these wristbands), you want to give all donors equal possibility to win a award. We will randomly select 3 contributor to win the prize pack of 2 fashion wristbands – 1 light, 1 dark – in how big is your choice. No matter just how much you donate you will end up entered to gain! But, even for anyone who is not one from the 3 lucky invariably winners, you will receive a color PDF from the certificate of adoption.

We really hope that it will work out there well and DROPPED fans will demonstrate their support intended for these animals! With all your help, there is a single lucky pelican around whose life are going to be saved by your legacy of DROPPED. Pretty awesome in your opinion!
