Bracelets Created To Raise Charity

His family has held a number of charity events to raise money for Jake and mum Claire, 32, said they are now designing wristbands both to raise money and awareness of a condition which affects only about 100 people in the UK and about 700 worldwide.

Claire said: "I decided, because we had quite a few followers on Facebook, we would like to do the wristbands because it spreads awareness of the condition. With it being so rare, not many people know about it or understand it."

The silicone wristbands, similar to those sold by charities such as Help for Heroes, will have Jakey's Journey written on them as well as being imprinted with a bee logo.

Claire explained: "When Jake is really poorly, he always says 'bee happy' so we've decided to incorporate a bee into a logo.

"He's doing very well at the moment, he's just had surgery to help relieve the pain he's in but he's a happy, bright little child. He just gets on with it even though he's in a lot of pain and sleeps most of the day."

Claire added Jake was looking forward to going back to Greenfield Primary in Hoyland in September and praised the support the family has received from the school.

The wristbands will be available from September at B and M on Wombwell Lane, Barnsley, Jump Post Office and Greenfield Primary for £2 each and will come in both adult and children's sizes.
